The first thing Magnus does -- with Alex's help -- after fully healing is board up the hole in the side of the greenhouse where the cheetah ran through. The second thing, once he learns the full scope of Dark (it's different at camp; he'd already taken out a ton of camp-appropriate food for when Galahad and Laertes couldn't make it out there, and so he and Alex have been fine on the eating front) is go to the greenhouse again to figure out what plants in there yield edible produce. (Also, he tries to scrub his blood off the table. It... partially works?)

Partly it's that he's still feeling weird after the whole affair. The season doesn't help, but he does feel closer to his own mortality than pretty much any point since he died for real the first time. Being around growing plants helps that. Mostly, though, it's because he doesn't want anyone to get, like, scurvy living on bushels of rice alone.

He doesn't want to overtax any of the plants, but some can be cajoled into fruiting. Right now, he's got his hand on a kumquat tree, and he's trying to convince it that it can speed up the growth process by a few weeks. Drosera is with him, 'helping:' she's found a dead leaf, and she's chasing it down the pathway between some plants. If anyone shows up -- either because they've heard of his near-death experience and want to check in on him, or just to hang out, or even because they're drawn by the way it looks like sunlight is coming from the greenhouse itself -- he'll be glad for the company.

"Well. Far be it from me to cast aspersions on anyone's likes and dislikes, but that does seem, ah--"

[summerdude]

"Cast away!!"

[sagramore]

"I don't think so, not if your boat got where it was going."

[summerdude]

"More or less," Magnus admits.

[sagramore]

"I'm glad we had this conversation."

[summerdude]

"You've learned a lot about the gods, huh."

[sagramore]

"It seems I have."

[summerdude]

Magnus is quiet for a moment. He's still feeling the weird rush of -- adrenaline, maybe? -- that he's been having off and on for days now. Maybe it's from talking intermittently about death, or from his extremely uncool reaction to Sagramore joking around, or just from remembering stuff about gods. It's really making him tune in more with his surroundings, though, and the people around him. "Hey, Sagramore?" he says.

"Hmm?" he asks.

[summerdude]

"I, like, really appreciate you. You know that, right?"

[sagramore]

"Oh!" It's safe to say this wasn't what he was expecting, and he glances down at Magnus. He's been making a conscious effort to deflect less and accept more of other people's care, so he forbears to protest in any of the ways he'd like to and instead says, "I didn't, and I'm glad. I care very much for thee."

[summerdude]

It's not, like, trying to put his affairs in order or anything, but Magnus does want the people he cares about to know that he cares about him a lot more urgently than he did a couple weeks ago. "Cool," he says, leaning against Sagramore's side. "Well, I do."

[sagramore]

Sagramore slips his arms around Magnus' shoulders and gives him a squeeze. "My thanks for telling me."

[summerdude]

"Yeah, of course," Magnus says, fidgeting. "You should tell people what you think cuz of all the uncertainty out there, right?"

[sagramore]

"Right. I think that's very wise."

[summerdude]

"Even if it's a controversial opinion and they're not officially your blood brother," Magnus adds, waggling his eyebrows. His dad is the god of horses, so it's not like he's really beating a dead one here.

[sagramore]

Sagramore laughs. "I get the picture. You know, I do have one controversial opinion--"

[summerdude]

"Dude, if you're pulling my leg again, I'm not gonna give you any salad."

[sagramore]

Sagramore, who loves to live dangerously, says, "I think Szarka is a more perfect, precious dog than Alex would be, if he turned into one."

[summerdude]

Obviously Szarka is always a dog. Magnus doesn't feel the need to dignify this with a response. He does, however, twist so that Sagramore can plainly see just how hard he's rolling his eyes.

[sagramore]

Satisfied that he has embarrassed himself properly, Sagramore grins down at him.

[summerdude]

"No salads for you," Magnus says. "All these beans are for everyone here except you."

[sagramore]

"I understand. I accept my punishment."

[summerdude]

"I take it back," Magnus says. "You're actually the worst."

[sagramore]

"I know. Oh, speaking of, do you know any good puns?"
