Sunny thinks about this, trying to figure out what Magnu means by 'marriage won't give us something we don't already have'. What would marriage give someone? Sunny might think marriage gives people babies. Her first parents were married and had some kids, her current parents are married and have kids, Jerome and Esmé are married and were given kids by the government briefly, but Claudi and Galahad don't have kids even though they are married, and anyway, Magnu said it wouldn't give them something they don't already have, implying that whatever it is marriage gives someone he and Alex already have.

She tries to think back to the wedding, and what Claudi and Galahad were given. There were a lot of presents, but she didn't see what was inside any of them. What sorts of things do Magnu and Alex have? They have some coolers. Maybe the presents were a bunch of differently sized coolers. Galahad definitely doesn't have a trampoline now, if he did Sunny would know, bouncy things are her area of expertise.
