Introducing the Baker's Wife

Some part of him must have heard her. Or at least she preferred to think so. Wishful thinking, maybe, but one never knows, with wishes.

Whether he heard her or not, though, she couldn't stay. One very unfortunate footfall (after... well, whether or not that was fortunate was entirely up in the air) had seen to that. It really was time to leave the woods after all.

It really shouldn't have surprised her to just find herself in... more woods. Clearly different woods, because there was absolutely no sign of a giant having disturbed the surroundings. Of course, that meant she really had no idea of where to go. Was this to be the rest of her existence, then? Wandering in woods forever? Well, there were probably worse things.

On the other hand... she catches what might be the glimpse of a tower through the treetops. That's at least a destination. She gathers up her skirts and strides off.

This Is The Best Movie In The World! I'm Crying, You're Crying. [semi-open]

Obviously the first time Magnus watches the Princess Bride at the Mansion, it's with Dad and Dad and Hanguang-jun (and Wei Wuxian, who tagged along, and Alex, who has already seen it, but there's no way Magnus is going to not invite Alex to every viewing), and Magnus cries.

The second time Magnus watches the Princess Bride at the Mansion, Alex is busy, and it's with Galahad and Shen Yuan, in one of their rare bids for another guy's night, and Magnus laughs... and cries a little. He's also invited Secunit, but if Secunit comes, it's just in the form of its drones, which Magnus doesn't specifically look for. He also extends an invitation to Ophelia, because he gets the vibe that she'd be a great addition to Guys's Night, and shows Galahad how to work the VCR so that Galahad can watch it alone with Claudius later.

The third time Magnus watches the Princess Bride at the Mansion, it's with the Molotov Cocktail Crew, plus a few random additions: Gideon and Tally, because he's absolutely certain they'll have a lot of strong feelings about it; Mercutio, who will likely have strong feelings of a different way; Benvolio, who isn't fully a part of the Molotov Cocktail Crew but who comes in basically a two-pack with Mercutio these days; Gu Xiang, obviously; Gaheris, because Gu Xiang is coming; Alex, also obviously; and then Nina and Tress, who also aren't really part of the Molotov Cocktail Crew, but it felt rude not to invite them when everyone else was coming. Magnus laughs, and pretends like he isn't also crying a little.

The fourth time Magnus watches the Princess Bride at the Mansion, it's with Dad and Lancelot. Alex doesn't come, and Magnus pretends like he's not crashing on one of Dad's dates. He doesn't think to invite Susan; he mostly just wants to create an opportunity to quote Inigo Montoya at Lancelot for their next month of practices. Focusing on all the sword talk actually helps keep him from tearing up like he usually does!

The fifth time Magnus watches the Princess Bride at the Mansion is also the sixth. It's just with Alex, and they watch it twice in a row, and recreate every one of the kisses, and Alex teases him for crying again, even though Alex is definitely crying too.

In between -- and after -- those times (which happen in the space of one week), the VHS sits in the game room. Anyone has access to it.

Prose-react with your puppet's reaction to the movie! Say if they have a viewing with someone else, so that person can be tagged in... or if your puppet just stumbles across it and figures out how to make it play, that's obviously fine too!

I buried a hatchet/it's coming up lavender [open]

Effie is trying. Trying not just to drink less, or get less wild, but more specifically, trying to weed her garden. It's proving a little difficult.

She's outside in the summer sun, wearing cutoffs and a tank top, and honestly? Kind of sweating a lot. She's not really sure if she's doing this right, but there are some zucchinis that she's managed to encourage, along with a few bell peppers.

"Fuck's sake," she says aloud, to no one in particular, as she weeds rather aggressively. "This is hard."

She sits down on the ground for a moment, breathing heavily.

"Ughhhhhhh." Effie flops over, clearly frustrated. Anyone is welcome to interrupt her? Commiserate with her? Hell, help her?

STRETCH.

It's a warm summer day, and Kade has the windows at either end of the attic thrown wide open to let in a cross-breeze. This does, however, mean that the ends of the muslin he's trying to pin to his dressmaking form keep blowing up when he's trying to figure out the folds he wants.

The knock on the door is a welcome distraction. He takes the pins out of his mouth and tacks them into the form's shoulder. "Come in!" he calls.

[Closed Post: Mortar and Grout]

Laertes and Sagramore had idly mused about tiling the bathtub a few weeks ago, and in most cases, their idle musings are forgotten without fanfare when some new project comes along. But the next time they'd bathed together, Laertes had remembered the proposal again--and later, when he went to fetch some tools for Lancelot, he'd come across all of their unused tiles sitting in (slightly dusty) stacks in the workshop.

He'd loaded up a wheelbarrow with tiles, mortar, and grout, and then he'd promptly forgotten them at the mansion for another week.

Then one day, while washing Sunny's hair, he'd thought to himself how nice it would be for her to bathe on a gentler surface than the hard concrete--and that had reminded him again of the loaded wheelbarrow.

So it is that, on a hot early-summer day, Laertes sits in the bone-dry bathtub in only a pair of shorts, smearing all-set mortar all over the floor and walls while Sagramore chooses between the tiles. Many of these are flawed in some way, unbeautifully glazed or warped or broken, but there may yet be enough salvageable tiles to see them through the project.
