"At least fifty," Aleksander said. "I didn't expect to see them at all but I stopped and watched them travel. There were very grand old elephants and mothers looking after their small babies. It was a wonderful, wonderful sight. I remember it as if it were yesterday - I could paint you a picture of them if you would like."
