I Turn, Um... Uh... Sixteen? For The Tenth? Time???? [open post]

It's Magnus's birthday and he is a man with a surplus of plans. And many, many plastic recorders.

He's still a little overstimulated from the birthday party Galahad got Claudius to throw for the two of them — he loves all his friends, but that was a lot of people in one space, most of whom were also feeling many, many things about their visitors — and so it's been a quiet few days. Sunny is still a little subdued, so they've been having muted hangouts in the mornings; Galahad, also overstimulated from their birthday party, has fortunately been on Magnus's wavelength about just sailing around aimlessly on the Big Banana with many snacks and very little conversation during their daily hangs for the past few days. He drags himself to sword practice with Lancelot once or twice, has his weekly dinner at Hanguang-jun's, spends a great solo afternoon cleaning out Little John's cave in case anyone else wants to use it at some point, and lets Alex tease him into wrestling and, um, other stuff after dinner basically every night.

But on this, the twenty-sixth anniversary of Magnus's actual birth, most of his energy has returned to him. He's made birthday dinner plans with just his immediate family (and also Alex and Hanguang-jun) at their house for the evening. He's had his liveliest morning of the week. And with his newly regained energy he's found critical supplies for his afternoon: a roll of duct tape, several trash bags, eight recorders, a handful of hollow pens, and a dream. He's sitting cross-legged in the middle of the Mansion's lawn, a look of grave concentration on his face, as he makes little holes in a bag, duct tapes two recorders and one pen here and there, and then seals it all up.

And then he takes a deep breath, fits his mouth to the hollow pen, and blows the bag up. When he places it under his arm and squeezes, he's gratified to find that his makeshift bagpipes work perfectly. And he still has supplies for a couple more!



I know everyone is still busy with visitor's day so feel free to take your time on this one... but I would love to ultimately have a ton of Chaos Thread Opportunities.

"I know. I remember," he says, grinning at her as he hitches his pile higher up his arms. "You were crawling around when we met, remember?"

"Uh huh. I was looking." She doesn't feel like going into details about exactly what, or rather who, she was looking for, but Magnu already knows anyway.

Oh no, Magnus wants to give Sunny a cuddle and a kiss but he's holding all this stuff! "I owe you a cuddle and a kiss when we get home, okay?"

[biteybaby]

"Okay Magnu. I give you a kiss and cuddle you too. And then you help me learn how to use pandera?"

[summerdude]

"Yep! Maybe Dad will be doing something embarrassing that we can take a picture of."

[biteybaby]

"Maybe hims sleeping and us can --" she drops her voice to a whisper "draw picture on hims with markers."

[summerdude]

"That's a great idea," Magnus whispers back. "What kind of picture?"

[biteybaby]

"Dunno. Maybe bugs. Cause I'm bug."

[summerdude]

"Ooooh, like a signature?"

[biteybaby]

"Yeah! Magnu you help me put an S for Sunny too?"

[summerdude]

"Yeah! I can show you how to do an S. Esses are really easy, they look like ssssssslithery ssssssnakessssss."

[biteybaby]

"Crowley!" Sunny says, very excitedly.

[summerdude]

"Yes! Kind of like when Crowley is ssssssslithering."

[biteybaby]

Sunny wiggles her whole body, just like Crowley does when he's a snake and decides to start ssssssslithering around.

[summerdude]

"I'll do my own attempt at being a snake when we get home," Magnus promises her. "I don't wanna drop these boxes." If she drops the bear stuff it's... fine. There's fewer small pieces in her load.

[biteybaby]

"Oh yeah that be bad. It go WOOSH flying everywhere!"

[summerdude]

"And then," lowering his voice to a deep, scary-adjacent whisper, "We'd have to clean it up."

[biteybaby]

"Don't wanna! Too busy! So don't drop them Magnu!"

[summerdude]

Magnus laughs. "I'll hold on really tight, don't worry."

[biteybaby]

They make it home with little trouble and Sunny immediately sets everything down and says, "Okay now us figure out pandera!"

[summerdude]

Magnus laughs. "Why don't we put away all of your new toys first? Then we can have uninterrupted pandera time."

[biteybaby]

"Ugh!!" she says, but starts picking up things to go put away.

[summerdude]

Magnus follows her into her room with his armload of stuff. "It's just so that we don't have to stop in the middle of the pandera if Dad asks us to put stuff away," he tells her.

[biteybaby]

"Maybe hims soooo excited about pandera him not care about messy house."

[summerdude]

"Maybe," hiding a smile. "Do you think it's worth the risk?"
