I Lose All Sense Of Reason [open post]

Magnus is walking down the front steps of the Mansion, freshly-loaded bag of food in tow, ruminating on a few of his most recent and devastatingly embarrassing conversations, when he hears footsteps behind him.

Well. He did tell Galahad he'd ask everyone. Might as well start now. "Can you explain the birds and the bees -- I mean, sex -- to me?" he demands, even before he sees who it is.

Aleksander shook his head. "No, I have been here for a few months now. I will admit I've mostly kept to myself. I will say I have had worse introductions."

[summerdude]

"Huh," Magnus says. He supposes there's been a real lack of murder so far this conversation, so he's also had worse. "Okay. Fair. I'm Magnus."

[temnota]

"Aleksander Morozova," he said with a slight bow. "I know I said I didn't want to know but I feel compelled to ask - you really do not know?"

[summerdude]

"I know the basics," Magnus says -- a little defensively for a guy who did just ask.

[temnota]

If Aleksander believed in Saints, he might have thanked them. As it was, he relaxed a little bit. "Then what is it that you are asking about, exactly?"

[summerdude]

"Like," Magnus says, and gives Aleksander an imploring sort of look. "We don't actually have to talk about this. I thought you were someone else. But um, you know. I just -- the stuff I've read" and watched! "doesn't exactly say how to make it good. For the other person."

[temnota]

"Ah, that." In all truth, Magnus absolutely should be talking to someone that wasn't him about this but he remembered the times he had tried to ask Baghra about this sort of thing and how poorly it had gone. He wanted to give him a better experience then he had had.

"Everyone is different. I know that is not particularly helpful but it is true. You and whoever it is you're interested in have to work that out together. Try things and see what you both enjoy and don't enjoy."

"That's what everybody else has been saying, too," Magnus says, with a heavy sigh.

[temnota]

"It is hard and you will probably feel ridiculous at first but it will be worth it," Aleksander said.

[summerdude]

"At least when I get so embarrassed I literally combust, she'll probably find it funny," Magnus says, making a mental note to figure out how to get Valhalla's magical death impermanence to extend out here. Just, like, in case.

[temnota]

"You don't think she might feel ridiculous as well? That it might be just as new to her as well?" Aleksander asked gently.

[summerdude]

"Oh, Alex never feels ridiculous," Magnus says, confidently. "She's way too cool for that." (He knows that this is a lie, but if Alex ever found out he suggested to a stranger that she might be anything but the coolest cucumber in the garden -- well. That would be unforgivable.)

[temnota]

Young love, Aleksander thought but did not say. "Well, as long as you two talk after you recover from the combustion."

[summerdude]

"I guess."

[temnota]

Aleksander considered mentioning that sometimes just the act of talking about the things you enjoyed could lead to demonstrations and decided that no, that was not a conversation he was going to have. Instead, he gave Magnus a cheerful smile. "Well, I wish you luck."

[summerdude]

"Yeah, cool, thanks." The embarrassment is catching up to Magnus. "Nice to meet you. Bye!"
