If Alex Came Back We'd DEFINITELY Be The Local Power Couple [open post]

Magnus has come to realize that nobody else in this entire place is presently in a relationship that has lasted nearly as long as his and Alex's. Shen Yuan's concept of "communication" "with" "Luo Binghe" is continuing to horrify him every time he thinks about it. What if there are other people who could use the advice of a sixteen-year-old twenty-five-year-old virgin who has been in a committed relationship for nearly seven years with someone to who he is probably widely known to have never verbally declared the undying depths of his love? (Gods, he hopes Alex figures out a way to do another little visit for their rapidly-approaching anniversary)

To that end, he posts an announcement sign over the welcome table, in the café, and on the door to the kitchen. It reads:

NEED RELATIONSHIP ADVICE OR FEEDBACK? Local Long-Term Relationship Expert Magnus Chase Offers His Aid.

He even lists office hours — an inoffensive parlor (meaning he can tolerate hanging out in it, and the door can close if people want privacy for their conversations) every other day for an hour, immediately following his Drosera hand-off to Galahad.

"Exactly. When we got really close, he even had someone start throwing some of our food supplies overboard. I was... shocked. And angry."

"Oh my gods. That's... I'd be so mad, too."

[sporesprouter]

"It makes sense now, but... Yeah. It wasn't so much that we were going to starve, but it was enough that we would have had to turn back to resupply. Except that the crew said they were willing to eat verdant vines as a stopgap. Charlie didn't know that was an option. Neither did I, at the time. So it didn't even work."

"What do the vines taste like?" Magnus wonders, and then: "How did he convince someone to get rid of the food?"

"They're... fine, really? They need a lot of preparation time to make them able to be eaten, but they're... okay in a pinch." She looks thoughtful. "I wonder what could be done to make them actually tasty. Oh... right, that's beside the point. Another one of my crew had also gotten cursed by the Sorceress, earlier. He was still in his regular form but he had... Well, his thoughts were a bit jumbled, so when a rat told him it was very important to throw the marked food overboard, it must have been very important."

"This Sorceress sounds like bad news," Magnus says. "Did you have to fight her?"

"We confronted her in the end. I suppose you could call it a fight."

[summerdude]

"What would you call it?"

[sporesprouter]

"Just a confrontation. No one really ended up getting hurt in the end, so best outcome for everyone, really."

[summerdude]

Oh. "That's nice," Magnus says, feelingly. He likes when confrontations don't involve fights or bloodshed or death.

She nods. "Charlie and Hoid both ended up getting their curses reversed and the Sorceress left our world, hopefully to go back where she came from."

[summerdude]

Magnus smiles. "That seems a lot more efficient than flyting her into a walnut shell," he says. "That's what I had to do with Alex's mom."

She laughs a little. "I summarized it a little. There were a few more steps. But the walnut shell thing sounds impressive."

[summerdude]

Magnus laughs, too. "I think it would've been more impressive if that could have stopped Loki in a meaningful way."

[sporesprouter]

"Maybe, but little steps count too. Stopping him even in a small way probably did some good, right?"

[summerdude]

"Oh, sure. It pushed the apocalypse back a little while."

[sporesprouter]

"There you go, then. You did a good job."

[summerdude]

Magnus just shrugs, but then he smiles and holds his hand out for a high five. "Go us," he says. "We both kick ass."

[sporesprouter]

And Tress has fortunately at least seen a high-five or two, so she reaches over and slaps his hand. "I guess we do."

[summerdude]

"May our partners arrive ASAP so they can continue to kick ass with us," says Magnus, solemnly, like he's making a toast even though he doesn't even have a drink.

She smiles a little and nods. "Let's hope."
