I Deliberately Misinterpret The Nature Of An Agreement

Galahad probably didn't expect Magnus to come pounding on his door in the middle of the day when they agreed Magnus would try sleeping on his own, especially since Magnus decided pretty quickly that he wanted to sleep outside again (but on purpose because he prefers it, not because it feels like the only option that doesn't end with the walls closing in on him). But here Magnus is, anyway, in the middle of the day, knocking loud enough that he has to force himself to take a step back so he doesn't break the door down.

"Dude, it's me, I need you," he calls, just so Galahad knows for sure it's him, or whatever. "You're in there, right? Galahad?"

"Gideon's sword wants to kill God, so I think it can have the same shirt as we have."

"Jack is supposed to kill a god, too," Magnus points out.

[onthewillowsthere]

"Does he mind that you took his purpose?"

[summerdude]

"I don't think so," Magnus says, thoughtfully. "He always seems really pissy about the fact that he's gonna have to kill Frey eventually. I think he secretly still likes him."

"I think," a little cautiously, "he does count with us, then. Maybe the opposite way, though."

[summerdude]

"What, he's pro-god?"

[onthewillowsthere]

"No, like-- we're angry at God but we're still tied to Him. Jack is tied to Frey but he's still angry. It's about what comes first."

[summerdude]

That makes perfect sense, and Magnus nods. He takes Galahad's hand and threads their fingers together, shifting a little -- he's still leaning on Galahad, but now he's resting his head against Galahad's shoulder.

It's comforting -- but Magnus is, almost always, comforting. Galahad feels better, even though he's tired and a little sad and worried about whether Magnus will still have time for him now that Alex is here. He nestles closer.

After a few minutes, Magnus twists his head to look at Galahad's profile. "Can I ask you something?"

"Yes."

[summerdude]

"Hanguang-jun said you were having nightmares?" Magnus's tone is even, curious; he's had enough time to deal with his feelings about Galahad not just telling him.

[onthewillowsthere]

"Not now. Last month," he says, because he likes to be precise and this is true.

[summerdude]

"You had nightmares?"

[onthewillowsthere]

"About Camelot."

[summerdude]

Magnus swallows the why didn't you tell me at his lips. "What about Camelot?"

[onthewillowsthere]

"When I first came, Percival wasn't there yet. It was just me. I wasn't liked very much."

[summerdude]

Yeah, because they're all stupid there. "It's about that?"

[onthewillowsthere]

He feels a little more foolish every time he tells this story, but he can't really imagine not telling Magnus now that they're on the subject. "The dream was about Sir Agloval. He said he wanted to ride with me, and he took me out to the woods and then left me. And in the dream he was with the Lamb and other portents of Revelation."

Okay. Magnus really has to read the Bible or something, because he's not following. "Can you explain that to me?"

[onthewillowsthere]

"It's about the end of the world."

[summerdude]

Magnus stills. "Which one?"

[onthewillowsthere]

"Mine. But it's meant to be all worlds, because that's what the author believed. It's a vision from God."

[summerdude]

"Why does every religion predict the end," Magnus asks no one in particular. "Can't they just let a good-enough thing be?" But he's cuddling closer to Galahad. Ragnarok is supposed to end every single world, too.

"I would wake up and remember it. Dreams aren't like that. That's why Claudius thought someone sent it to me."
