Look, It's Been A Really Weird Week [closed post]

Magnus's day is already pretty thrown off, between surprise Hanguang-jun morning hangs (definitely positive) and coming clean to Alex about training with Lancelot (mostly positive), which led directly to Alex coming along to afternoon training (weird, but ultimately extremely good), so that he can... vet Lancelot??? Have a fun little spar with Magnus???? Tease them both mercilessly??? Anyway, it's fun! It feels kind of like the best part of old times, except Magnus is actually kind of good now that he's had formal training, and even though he knows Alex, like, super well, Alex is always a wildcard with fighting, and it's nice to have things shaken up in training now that Magnus is also getting used to how Lancelot fights.

All this to say that he somehow hasn't seen Galahad yet, even though usually by now he's spent several hours with Galahad. So after dinner, he heads back up to the Mansion with the dual purposes of finding (1) Galahad and (2) art supplies for his next time-sensitive project.

"Okay, so pick one for each of you," Magnus says. He release Galahad's hand again so he can dutifully go to stroke Rivelin's nose, and wrinkles his own nose when Rivelin nudges his hair. "A lot of weddings have multiple kinds of cake." He doesn't actually know if this is true, but surely they must? Why else would tastings be talked about so often in the stuff he's been reading? He pauses, then glances over at Galahad. "Would he want a jelly cake or something?"

"He said sachertorte was the best of cakes. But he said the strawberry matcha reminded him of spring."

"Okay, so you could do the strawberry matcha and then set it in lime Jell-o..."

Galahad scrunches up his nose slightly, remembering Claudius' foray into aspics. "Those aren't usually sweet. He likes the ones that are meant to be meals. Is it all right for the wedding cake to be a supper loaf?"

"It's a wedding meal?" Magnus tries, and shrugs. "I think if it's your wedding you can do whatever you want. I think the only mandatory thing is the garter."

"The garter?"

Magnus has been reading a lot about weddings, so he's prepared for this question. "Yeah, you put a garter on your thigh under your clothes and at the end of the night, he takes it off... some people say with his teeth--" he wiggles his eyebrows at Galahad because he knows Galahad loves mouth stuff-- "and others say with his hands. And then he throws it and whoever catches it is gonna get married next, I think. Kind of like the bouquet but more interactive."

Galahad, predictably, flushes -- Magnus is right and he is doing some imagining right now. "It has to be on the person wearing a skirt, doesn't it?"

Magnus shrugs. With the easy confidence of a guy whose tailor-adjacent best friend back home is a crafty dwarf who works primarily in chain mail and who doesn't talk at length about pattern construction and instead just churns out structural marvels, he says, "I guess it would be easier to get at it that way, but if you wanted to wear the garter I'm sure we could figure out a way Claudius reach it."

"I'll ask him."

"You could both have garters," Magnus adds, thoughtfully.

"I would like that. I could take his off at the wedding, so he could be a spectacle."

[summerdude]

Magnus waggles his eyebrows at Galahad. "And he could take yours off... after?"

[onthewillowsthere]

"In private," firmly.

[summerdude]

Magnus cackles, only partially with relief that things seem normal between them. "Are you getting excited for the, like, marathon wedding night sex?" he asks.

Galahad's blush deepens spectacularly. "Yes. I want-- yes."

[summerdude]

"You're gonna have to rate it for me after," says Magnus comfortably. "Like, is it a 10/10, or is it a 20/10, or does it break the scale entirely..."

"I will tell you everything."

[summerdude]

Magnus remembers then that they have an objective to being in the stable besides letting the horses try to give him all their life updates, and he starts turning in place, looking to see if he can spot any promising baby-griffin-saddle spots. "I think me and Alex are, like. Getting pretty close, maybe."

Right. Galahad nods and opens the door to the tackroom, and waits for Magnus to elaborate.

"We've been, like. Talking more and more about it." He flushes. "Do you think, maybe--"

[onthewillowsthere]

That slight tilt of his head.

Magnus always appreciates how expressive and communicative Galahad is. He takes a deep breath and relaxes. "Do you think it's, like, normal to think that even just, like, talking about it is, like. Pretty sexy too?"

"Yes," immediately, because that's an easy question. He and Claudius talk about sex all the time, and did even before they began having it, and it always fills Galahad with heat and flame.

"Good," with a huge sigh of relief. Obviously Magnus trusts his best friend as a final authority on all things sex-adjacent, far more than either of his (horny) father figures. "Cuz it's, like, a lot."
