Magnus is walking down the front steps of the Mansion, freshly-loaded bag of food in tow, ruminating on a few of his most recent and devastatingly embarrassing conversations, when he hears footsteps behind him.

Well. He did tell Galahad he'd ask everyone. Might as well start now. "Can you explain the birds and the bees -- I mean, sex -- to me?" he demands, even before he sees who it is.

Magnus takes a deep breath and lets it out slowly. "I guess she likes that I'm kind of, like. Clueless." Then he wrinkles his nose. He still doesn't know anything!!!

Claudius laughs, not unkindly. “He must, from what you’ve told me of your courtship. Clever people, like Alex, often find themselves undone by a guileless suitor, whose sincerity can’t be questioned. If you speak earnestly of your desires, that invites him to be earnest about his own¹. How well do you know your own desires?”

¹ There are surely implications to explore about why Claudius didn’t recommend this to Crowley. None of them are being explored right now.

"I'm guessing you don't mean desires, like, prevent Ragnarok from ever happening or on purpose make Alex laugh as much as possible," Magnus says, a little glum.

"Preventing Ragnarok may not have much relevancy in the bedroom. Making your partner laugh, however, can. Your desires needn't only pertain to physical acts of coupling -- though if there's any you're imagining, you can always make a list."

Mostly Magnus just imagines making out with Alex for, like, hours. He sighs. "Mostly I just, like, want her to be happy."

"Such a pure-hearted lover," Claudius says with teasing fondness. "And it's a heady thing, to have a lover whose foremost desire is your happiness. You can say so to Alex, say you want above all things to please him -- though, of course, you'll want to say it in your own charming style."

Magnus imagines himself using a specific script to have this (eventual) conversation with Alex, and starts laughing. "Yeah," he says. "No offense, but if I said it like you do, she'd make so much fun of me." Then he pauses, a thoughtful look briefly crossing his face. He does like when she makes fun of him.

"You did say you desired to make her laugh, didn't you?"

"Good point!" Magnus says. "I should start writing down quotable Claudius quotes so I can plagiarize them for girlfriend points." She'll definitely laugh even harder when she figures out that's what he's done. So. Worth it.

Claudius laughs himself. "Oh, excellent. You don't have to share that list with me, but I do love a list."

"Next time you give me diplomacy lessons, I'll write down my notes verbatim," Magnus jokes.
