Magnus wakes up, normal again except for how he's in an unfamiliar room. Not Galahad's old room, either. A nondescript one that, as far as he can tell, just has a bunch of clothes and stuff. Also he's wearing silky pajamas he'd never pick out automatically on his own?

It doesn't take long for him to feel like the walls are closing in on him. It's out of respect for Aornis that he stumbles out of her room through the door (barefoot and in the silky pajamas) and goes outside the normal way. Once outside, he flops into the snow, calling summer and feeling the way the snow steams against his skin as it melts.

He's not feeling totally regular again when he sits bolt upright, remembering that Drosera is probably in Galahad's old room with two people that aren't Magnus or Galahad. Existential crisis over, there's a child to retrieve! And hopefully, he'll run into Galahad in the halls.

Galahad nods, listening now. Dro has decided that it's time to come over and nibble at the bracelet he's wearing; she likes shiny things.

Magnus sighs, then stretches again. He's glad to be back in a familiar body again. "Anyway, thanks for watching our baby, Tress," he says. "Sorry if you had a rude awakening this morning."

She laughs a little and stands up. "At least I expected today's, more or less. Maybe not some of the specifics."

"Thank you," he adds seriously, even though Magnus has already say it. He's not sure what being in his body is like, but she took care of it for the day, so thanks seem due.

"Drosera, say thank you to your auntie Tress," Magnus says, and Drosera lifts her head and peers keenly at Tress before turning back to Galahad's bracelet.

"Thank you too, Galahad," she says with a nod. He also took care of her body, after all. Then she turns her gaze to Drosera, even though her attention is already well gone. "And you're welcome, your highness."

Galahad's gaze follows Tress'
and drops down to Drosera, who is tugging at the clasp as if she might be able to work out how to undo it. "She's grateful," solemnly.

Magnus likes Tress, and doesn't actually want to hustle her off, but his list of things to cover with Galahad is getting progressively longer, so he just gives her a cheery wave.

"I'll see you all later." She waves and heads off to take advantage of her morning routine in her own body again, huzzah.

Dro is now firmly in Galahad's lap, which he's perfectly content with. She's been getting bigger and bigger, and he likes the feeling of being squished by her. He does ask, "Should we feed her? I don't think Tress would have."

"We should," Magnus nods. He leans forward. "Also, dude, will you help me do something monumentally stupid today?"

In spite of himself he laughs. "What?"

"I think I should cut off my toe and see if I can reattach it," Magnus says. He's actually been thinking about this a lot over the past week or so. "Just in case Tally gets, like, impatient or whatever."

Over time, Galahad has developed an opinion of Magnus as a reasonable person who makes thoughtful decisions and stands by his positions. It's because of this that he takes in Magnus' words, considers them, and then says, "All right." (It's an experiment, which he respects, and obviously Magnus wouldn't do it on anyone else. Magnus is the most likely person to be able to heal himself afterwards. Also, girl code? Claudius said something once about girl code and referred to Magnus when he did.)

Oh, good. If Galahad doesn't think it's a bad idea, it's probably fine. "If it doesn't work, toes are probably the most unimportant body part," Magnus explains. "And obviously I can't try it on anyone else. That would be so messed up." He stands, then, because Dro's breakfast is more pressing. As he does, something else occurs to him. "Can we try sleeping here again tonight? I'd like to be able to, like, handle it if something like yesterday happens again."

"I told Claudius I would be away for a week."

Oh. Warmth floods Magnus, and he gives Galahad a little smile. "Okay, awesome."

"If you need me longer, it can be longer." He scratches between Dro's wings.

[summerdude]

"You're the best."

[onthewillowsthere]

He smiles up, but doesn't say anything; Magnus knows everything he has to say.

Magnus smiles back for a moment, then nods. "Breakfast for hungry babies? And mamas? Wait, it's Lent, isn't it? Does that affect breakfast for you?"

"I can't eat until after sunset."

[summerdude]

"Oh, so like Ramadan," Magnus nods. "Okay, hungry baby breakfast, then?"

"Hungry baby breakfast," serenely.

After Drosera is fed and soothed and Magnus has washed the raw meat juices from his hands, he turns to Galahad. "Clothes first?" he asks. "Or toe?"
