Magnus needs something to change, so when a Mansion calendar helpfully informs him that it's International Falafel Day back on Earth, he goes to the library for some cookbooks, and then to the kitchen.

He lays out ten different falafel recipes. He gathers the ingredients they list, as best as he can understand them. He has canned chickpeas and fresh chickpeas and dried chickpeas and chickpea flour and box mixes of falafel that say 'just add water!'

Cripes.

"I can do this," he says, peering at the assorted recipes intently for a good ten minutes, and then takes the dried chickpeas over to the sink to rinse and soak.

"It's a simple statement of fact," smiling slightly.

"It's still rude," Magnus says, thrilled. It seems he likes when Lancelot gives as good as he gets? "I'm just a little guy, dude."

"Just a little legendary, deathless warrior. Yes."

[summerdude]

"I don't know about legendary. Or deathless. Or warrior, for that matter."

[lanselos_du_lac]

"I think it difficult to disclaim all three, when one has come here from Valhalla." He is definitely ribbing him, but he does come over to help with the dishes.

"I'm more like, Ordinary Dead Peace Dude. Um, Peace Little Dude."

[lanselos_du_lac]

"Peace Little Guy," he says, politely correcting him, "dude."

[summerdude]

Magnus gapes at him for a moment. Then, grumpily: "Nobody told me you were funny."

[lanselos_du_lac]

Solemnly, "No one knows."

[summerdude]

"Not even your thirty-five boyfriends?" Magnus finds that hard to believe.

[lanselos_du_lac]

"Where have you been getting your gossip from? I haven't got thirty-five boyfriends."

[summerdude]

"It's a guesstimate." Magnus starts handing him clean dishes to dry.

[lanselos_du_lac]

"A what?" He frowns, drying the dishes. "No-- I understand. You are terrible at guessing."

[summerdude]

"I'm exciting at guessing."

[lanselos_du_lac]

"Is it exciting to be incorrect?"

[summerdude]

"It's exciting to be creative," says Magnus, tossing Lancelot his trademark shit-eating grin.

[lanselos_du_lac]

"I see. A critical difference."

[summerdude]

"So, anyway, your thirty-six boyfriends don't think you're funny????"

[lanselos_du_lac]

"Only two do," setting aside the clean mixing bowl, "and perhaps Sagramore. Who is not my 'boyfriend'."

[summerdude]

"Only two of your thirty-six boyfriends? That's a terrible ratio."

[lanselos_du_lac]

"Well, Susan also, but she is not a boyfriend."

[summerdude]

"You should dump the other thirty-four," Magnus says, wisely. "You know how the saying goes: no scrubs." Then he pauses. "Wait. You just said no one knows that you're funny! Are you--" an exaggerated gasp "--a liar? Are you lying to a little guy?"

He puts on an especially thoughtful air, "Are jokes lies?"

[summerdude]

"Yes," Magnus joke/lies.

[lanselos_du_lac]

"Ah, unfortunate. I am not a liar."
