"And then we realized Frigg was knitting with clouds. Actual factual clouds," Magnus says, passing another box that, as it turns out, holds nothing useful down to Galahad. He climbs up another rung on the little stepladder and starts in on the next shelf. "How many boxes of Legos do we have so far?" He knows it's certainly not enough for a bachelorette party yet, but surely there's something they can go on. He'd kind of tonight that this far after Dark, there would be... more? "Do you think we should find another room to look in? Maybe the game room isn't the best choice."

Galahad can't catch up to him, but he's happy just to soar. It's a wild, free feeling.

At the apex of his swing forward, Magnus (of course) leaps off the swing, twisting wildly for about half a second before landing, hard, on his feet. He whoops again.

He opens his eyes to see what Magnus has done, and -- definitely doesn't do that. He's still getting used to what his new weak body can and can't do, but this seems risky. Instead he stops actively swinging and lets himself start to slow naturally.

And Magnus come back to his swing and sits on it, idly, grinning.

Then he says, "Want me to push you even though I'm not secretly in love with you?"

"Yes, please."

Magnus pushes off his swing again and moves behind Galahad. He catches him on the backswing, gripping the little metal triangles that hook the chain into the swing itself, and then backs up even farther, pulling Galahad higher.

Then, putting his head down, he pushes, running forward and launching Galahad high enough that he can scamper forward underneath him, circling back immediately so he can keep the momentum going with more sedate pushes.

With Magnus' einherji strength, Galahad is immediately sent swinging very high, very fast, and he laughs breathlessly as he's flung into the -- sky? He looks up but his eyes immediately slide off the blue-grey dome above him -- but that doesn't seem to matter enormously right now. He feels like he's flying.

Magnus is grinning, too, thrilled. He's going to keep pushing Galahad until Galahad asks to stop.

It's a while, but finally he flips backwards in the swing and says breathlessly, "We must be not be stopped in our quest--"

"Oh. Right, we had a point to all this, didn't we?" Magnus says. He stops pushing Galahad and steps to the side to take himself away from the temptation of just letting Galahad swing all day.

Galahad laughs as he slows to a stop. "We have to find a scabbard."

[summerdude]

"Oh, right. For your fancy new sword." Magnus is determinedly cheerful about this.

[onthewillowsthere]

"For my fancy new sword," just as deliberately light.

[summerdude]

"You know," says Magnus, reaching for Galahad's hand to tug him off of the swing and toward the door. They're definitely marking this one. A full-on label. Maybe they can find it a glowing sign so other people can use the playground, too? "I really mean it. You should train with Jack, too. He's actually a pretty decent teacher."

Galahad gives him a look. "Jack is loud."

"Yes," says Magnus. "And he'll teach you different stuff."

"Do you think he's a better teacher than Lan Wangji?"

[summerdude]

"Hanguang-jun barely taught me sword stuff before I stopped," says Magnus, as they leave the playground door and he labels it FUN ZONE INSIDE!!!!! GROWN UP PLAYGROUND!!!!!. "I'm not saying that he's better, just that he's different. Different forms, different methods. Give you a broader base."

Part of the reason Galahad wants Lan Wangji to teach him is that Lan Wangji understands him -- more than anyone else here, Galahad thinks that Lan Wangji is like him, that they're almost the same. He definitely does not think that's true of Jack. "Perhaps," he says, but it's not really possible for him to look or sound enthusiastic about something that he doesn't want to do.

Magnus laughs, mostly genuine. "You don't have to," he says. "I just thought... because I can't... Jack could."

Like. He could. He should be able to. He can definitely figure out a way to be able to, right? Except Galahad will probably never let him, on account of how adamant Magnus has been about stopping fighting. But if Galahad is starting again...

"I don't want you to," immediately. Magnus is supposed to be doing things like this -- exploring, playing, growing things. Whatever he wants. Not preparing for something to go wrong.

Magnus nods, honestly... a little sad????? He grins. "Hence the Jack offer."

"Maybe." He struggles with the words for a moment, with the feeling of letting Magnus down, and finally asks, "If I don't, will it bother you?"

For a split second, Magnus almost says yes, it feels like you're going somewhere you don't want me to follow, and not even letting me help the way I definitely can, but then he shrugs it off. "It's fine," he says, slinging an arm around Galahad's shoulders and pulling him in for a little squeeze. "Jack likes teaching, but if you don't then I don't have to figure out an explanation for why."

"I want to do things with you that aren't Fighting Guy things," he says, confident that Magnus understands by the way he's so quick to squeeze Galahad. "Let's keep questing."
