"And then we realized Frigg was knitting with clouds. Actual factual clouds," Magnus says, passing another box that, as it turns out, holds nothing useful down to Galahad. He climbs up another rung on the little stepladder and starts in on the next shelf. "How many boxes of Legos do we have so far?" He knows it's certainly not enough for a bachelorette party yet, but surely there's something they can go on. He'd kind of tonight that this far after Dark, there would be... more? "Do you think we should find another room to look in? Maybe the game room isn't the best choice."

"There," Magnus says, when he's done. It's only then that he notices his hands, glowing, are sending off little rainbows too. "...Huh."

A curious tilt of his head. He reaches to touch Magnus' hands.

The rainbows dance over Galahad's fingers!

The effect is beautiful, and Galahad turns over his hands, watching the rainbow light.

"Thank you," finally.

[summerdude]

"'Course." Magnus turns back to carefully working a plant out of the ground. "This place is wild. Much better than all the jotun crap."

[onthewillowsthere]

"It's beautiful." He wonders how far it goes -- it's not just a room, it's a world, it has the feeling of the world; something that could go on for a long, long time. It makes him wish he'd brought the camera along.

"I kinda wanna take a nap here," Magnus says, with a half-laugh. "Poppies... poppies! Hey, you read the Wizard of Oz yet?" He thinks chances are pretty good, given the play. He hasn't read it yet (but he's seen the movie), but Galahad could have. "You think this is Oz? Somewhere over the rainbow?"

"I haven't." He only knows about the Janet version of the play. "What do the poppies mean?"

"In the movie there's this field of poppies that put them all to sleep."

[onthewillowsthere]

The sublest of frowns. "Something bad happens then?" It seems like the prelude to something bad happening.

[summerdude]

"Nah, they're fine, they shake it off and wake up and keep going."

[onthewillowsthere]

"It's a setback." He knows about setbacks.

[summerdude]

"Yeah!" Magnus works a plant free of the ground, roots dangling, and nudges Galahad's leg. "A setback."

He holds out the bottle to receive the plant in Magnus' hand.

As Magnus eases the plant into the bottle, a sound stirs up in the distance, sort of like the rumble of hooves of a faraway herd of horses.

"You think that's a sign to vacate, or to linger?"

[onthewillowsthere]

"We should go," firmly. He's not sure why, but he feels certain of it.

Magnus trusts Galahad's senses completely. He gathers up his stuff and makes his way back through the door hanging open, unattached to anything, in the middle of the field.

With the plastic bottle and plant cradled in his hands, Galahad follows, and closes the door behind them.

"You know," Magnus remarks, slumping against the wall next to the door, "I've been through the, like, bowels of the sub-basements here before or whatever, but it wasn't like this."

[onthewillowsthere]

"Do you think it's because we are on a quest?"

[summerdude]

"You know what? Maybe."

[onthewillowsthere]

"Strange things happened when Percival and I were questing."

[summerdude]

"Okay." Magnus turns to Galahad, eyes bright. "What's the weirdest? The unicorn doesn't count, the unicorn was super cool. I'm talking about balls-out weird."

[onthewillowsthere]

"Once Percival and I were with Sir Bors, in the woods, and we saw a white deer being led by four lions. So we followed. We came to a hermitage, and all the animals went in to the chapel, where there was a holy man. He began singing mass. The animals were listening to it." He flutters his fingers against his thighs. "Then the deer turned into a man and sat upon the altar, and the lions changed also, into a man, and a lion, and an eagle and an ox."

"Wait." Magnus is, predictably, entranced. "Did the lion who turned into a lion turn into a different lion?"
